Chelsea FC continued their impressive run under coach Thomas Tuchel with a 2-0 home win over Everton FC on Monday.
Kai Havertz returned to the starting line-up and played a key role in both goals.
Bayer Leverkusen's summer acquisition had long struggled to show why Chelsea had paid him a transfer fee of 80 million euros last year.
But against Everton in the Premier League it was his shot that Everton defender Ben Godfrey steered into his own net in the 31st minute.
In the 64th minute Havertz was brought down by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Jorginho scored from the penalty spot.
Havertz had put the ball in the goal himself in the 53rd minute, but a review by the video referee showed that he had previously touched the ball with his arm.
Tuchel praised Havertz, who was infected with Covid-19 in November and was then mainly used as a substitute player.
In addition, the 21-year-old missed further games due to an injury.
“It was the trust we gave him and he used the trust we gave him.
He's a player who has the ability to be a dominant figure on the offensive and he has improved, ”Tuchel told BT Sport.
"I am very happy with him."
With the win, Chelsea consolidated fourth place in the Premier League and are two points ahead of West Ham, who are currently fifth.
It was the sixth win in nine league games for the Blues since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at the end of January.
Chelsea have drawn the other three games and only conceded two goals.
With the win against Everton, Tuchel is also the first coach not to concede a goal in his first five home games in the Premier League.
