Manchester City returned to the winning track after the loss to Manchester United in the derby, when they defeated Southampton 2: 5.
Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scored doubles, with Ilkai Gonduan scoring his 12th goal this season.
The goals for Southampton were scored by James Ward Fraus (Pendel) and Che Adams.
City's gap grew to 14 points with overtime.
Meanwhile in Spain, Atletico Madrid beat Bilbao 1: 2 in a rematch from the 18th round and increased their gap at the top to six points. Diego Simeone's side fell behind early on a goal from Iker Muniain, but turned the score around thanks to goals from Marcus Jornetta and Luis Suarez (Pendel), who reached 18 goals this season in the league.
