The Brazilian winger, 37-year-old Robinho, has played in some of the most prestigious clubs in the world, and even managed to record 100 appearances for the Brazilian national team.

He dreamed of continuing to play football for the Brazilian team Santos in his youth, but it seems that the next time he will play football will be within the prison walls.

Today (Wednesday) the Italian court rejected Robinho's second appeal, which was sentenced to nine years in prison after he was convicted of involvement in the gang rape of a young woman in her 20s in 2013 in Milan.

This means that Robinho has one more appeal attempt left, and must file it within 45 days in court in the fashion capital.

If the third appeal is not granted, Robinho will go to a lengthy prison term.

Now, after the Brazilian's second appeal was also rejected, the Italian court may demand his arrest, but given that the winger currently resides in Brazil which does not extradite its citizens, in the boot country they could issue him an international arrest warrant.

Robinho, 36, began his career at Santos before embarking on a long European career that included Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan.

He signed a short-term contract this year and hoped to retire in a team where he is big, but the pressure from fans and sponsors prevailed and he was released following the trial against him.

Robinho was charged with 2017 rape in Italy and sentenced to nine years in prison.

According to the indictment, Robinho, along with five other people, were involved in the gang rape of an Albanian young woman at a nightclub in Milan in 2013.
