The Handball Association has applied to the Ministry of Sports for exceptional support due to the damage and financial expenses caused this week due to the inability to host the European Championship qualifiers in Tel Aviv against the Lithuanian and Icelandic teams.
This is due to the government's only partial sky-opening policy, which led to the cancellation of flights to Israel and at the last minute to the postponement of the Games.

The Handball Association was forced to spend NIS 110,000 for ordering the Shlomo Group Hall in Tel Aviv for the duo, where a special area was also installed, in addition to hotel payments, the flight of Israeli players playing in European leagues to Israel, along with additional expenses for training and productions.
The European Union has already postponed the holding of the games, which will probably take place at the end of April - and will again incur expenses of similar amounts.
In addition, due to the closed sky policy - and the opening of only 5 destinations in Europe, the team's flight was canceled at the beginning of the week, and the union had to rent a chartered plane to get to the game to be held on Sunday in Vilnius.
In this regard, the person who enlisted the help and support of the Israeli team for fear that it would not be able to take off for Lithuania, and could suffer a technical loss and exclusion from the games, is the businessman and former chairman of the Handball Association, Manny Weizmann. The
union stressed that without immediate help from the Ministry of Sports and the Government, it will be difficult to finance the huge costs, even following the postponement of the men's team's games this week, and when in two months the women's team will participate in another tournament. Therefore, if no support is received, and due to the technical difficulties of getting to Luxembourg, a decision is also made to coordinate the professional team to waive participation in the World Championship qualifiers and focus on the European Championship qualifiers.
