Top shooters hope for a DM chance

Several title fights have been canceled - but for the Freising top shooters, the path could still lead to the DM.

After all: training is theoretically possible.

County

- People long for normalcy - and Sagittarius will have to wait a while longer.

In the past few days, the Bavarian Sports Shooting Association (BSSB) came to the conclusion that this year it is not possible to host the Bavarian championships in large areas on the Olympic shooting range in Garching-Hochbrück.

All competitions with air rifles are definitely canceled - and that affects the majority of sport shooters in the Freising district.

Petra Horneber, the former world-class athlete from the Sweden-Schützen Kranzberg, regrets these cancellations.

She is thinking in particular of the championships for children and adolescents: "Often you only have the opportunity for one or two years to occupy a top position in these age groups." After 2020, this is the second time that there are no Bavarian air rifle champions and the air pistol determined.

Horneber sees this with concern because these are the Olympic disciplines that are particularly important for sport.

Results of the Gaume Championship 2020 in focus

At the level of the Schützengau Freising it remains that no gaume championships are shot.

Should the German Schützenbund (DSB) host German championships in late summer, the results of the gaume championship 2020 will be used.

It is by no means unlikely that the association will prevent too large fields of participants by using correspondingly high limit numbers.

A look at the results of the most recent Gaume Championship makes all the more sense - and there two Freising shooters could directly reach the German championship.

In the shooting class, Hubertus Tüntenhausen's Florian Reindl scored very strong 393 rings.

Martina Tristl was even better: The top scorer of SG Aich shot 394 rings in the women's competition - an achievement that is predestined for a German championship.

Carola Neugebauer from Tüntenhausen also got a strong result with 390 rings.

And if there are national championships in the women’s III age group, Petra Horneber is sure to be there.

Because the old champion scored the best result of all participants at the Gaume Championship 2020 in Oberappersdorf with 396 rings.

Incidence value allows training subject to conditions

On Wednesday the Freising district had an incidence of 75.6.

As long as this value remains below 100, the shooters also have the theoretical option of going back to the stands under strict conditions.

However, Freising's Gausport manager Reimund Seibert doesn't know any shooters who are starting a training session these days.

“You don't know what to train for,” says Seibert.

"It's like blowing up a balloon for no reason."

So the Sagittarius continue to wait for things.

The small group of top athletes is now waiting for decisions regarding the hosting of German individual championships.

And everyone hopes that with the round competitions of the 2021/22 season from October onwards, the sporting return to normal will be achieved.
