Arminia Bielefeld suffered the first defeat in the second Bundesliga game under coach Frank Kramer.
In the home game against Werder Bremen, the Bielefeld were defeated 0: 2 (0: 0).
Joshua Sargent (47th minute) and Kevin Möhwald (75th) scored the goals for Bremen.
Bielefeld's Nathan de Medina saw the red card after a rough foul against Bremen's Niclas Füllkrug (71.).
The Bielefeld team, in which captain Fabian Klos only sat on the bench at the beginning, designed the first half clearly: With a high pressure, the hosts prevented any Bremen attempt at an orderly game structure and settled deep in the opposing half.
After a corner, Amos Pieper had the first opportunity to bring Bielefeld into the lead, but the defender's header went next to the goal (7th).
Later, Ritsu Doan missed a big chance from ten meters away only because Werder defender Ömer Toprak blocked the Japanese at the last moment with his toe (28th).
Werder had remained completely harmless in the first half - and took the lead after the break: Pieper faked a cross from Milot Rashica in the center, Sargent pushed the ball over the line from a minimal distance (47th).
For Sargent it was the third game in a row with his own goal.
After that, the Bielefeld team pushed for an equalization, but deals remained rare.
Doan Pavlenka forced the parade from an acute angle (54th), and Milos Veljkovic blocked the margin from Marcel Hartel.
As the ball jumped to the Bremen defender's arm, the Bielefeld penalties claimed, but video assistant Bibiana Steinhaus rightly did not intervene.
Möhwald hits in the majority
In the final phase Steinhaus had to do again: After de Medina stepped on the Achilles heel of Füllkrugs, referee Markus Schmidt was recommended to watch the scene in the video.
After viewing the pictures, Schmidt corrected his assessment of the foul from yellow to red. In the majority, Werder had little trouble combining through the Bielefeld defense when the substitute Möhwald made the decision (75th).
The best Bielefeld chance of connecting through Klos, who was also substituted, was thwarted by Pavlenka (78th).
The game should originally have taken place on February 7th.
However, since the course in Bielefeld was classified as unplayable after heavy snowfall, the DFL had postponed the game.
Thanks to the catch-up game, Werder and Arminia are level with the rest of the league and have now played 24 games.
Bremen are 12th in the middle of the table with 30 points, eleven points behind Bielefeld in 16th place.
