Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan won the state cup tonight (Thursday) for the fifth time in its history, after defeating Elitzur Ramla 72:73 in a match held at the Ralph Klein Hall in Yavne, in the presence of President Ruby Rivlin. Ramat Gan managed to avenge the loss 72:58 In the final of two years ago and lifted the first big title of the season.

It was Ramla who started better, when they received 12 points from Binja Laney already in the first quarter and ran to 16:25 after ten minutes.

Tal Lev brought Ramat Gan back to 28:28 in the middle of the second quarter, and it went down to the locker rooms with a 38:41 advantage.

Eden Rotberg sniped from outside the arc, Kayla Hillsman also joined, and after Alison Hightower and Tiffany Mitchell returned the lead to Ramla's side, Alex Harden took a minute to finish and set up 72:73.

Laney and Mitchell missed crucial shots, and it ended in a sweet and surprising victory for Roy Lazar over top-flight, despite a not-so-simple season in the league.

Ramla counts 11 losses in the finals - much more than any other team (next on the list are AS Ramat Hasharon and Hapoel Haifa, with seven losses each in the finals).

Rothberg finished a great evening with 22 points (4 from 5 to 3) and 6 assists, Hillsman added 14 and 12 rebounds and Harden contributed 12 and 11 rebounds.

Laney's 27 and 13 rebounds were not enough on the other side, Mitchell added 20 and Hightower 16.
