Lyon - Reims 1: 1
Rudy Garcia's team arrived after the top five in the cup against Sosho, and did not think it would encounter excessive opposition from the team from 12th place before the round.
Lyon, however, found themselves coming down to the half-time break trailing 1-0 from a goal by Matthew Caparo in the 33rd minute.
Lyon pressed the visitors' goal and kicked 17 times, only six times to the frame.
The most significant time of all came two minutes into overtime when Memphis Depay found Tino Cadwar, and the player from Zimbabwe scored a dramatic equalizer.
Despite the last-minute save, Lyon missed an opportunity to cling on and maybe even overtake Lille in first place.
