Barcelona club management headed by Juan Laporta is preparing to hold decisive talks with Argentine club star Lionel Messi about renewing his contract.
Messi's contract with Barcelona expires next summer and his fate has not been announced next season.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, the election of Laporta as president of Barcelona does not guarantee Messi's commitment to sign a new contract, noting that Laporta has not made any offer to the Argentine star so far as he has not yet taken the necessary financial measures to restructure the debts that experts believe have risen to more than one billion euros .
The newspaper stated that Messi and his father are expected to be invited to discuss the new contract this month, noting that Laporta needs to give Messi a promise to rebuild the current team and to provide clear evidence of his ability to fulfill his promises and include big names in Barcelona.
