Hamburger SV won the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga.
HSV won 2-0 (1-0) at the league leaders VfL Bochum.
Amadou Onana took the lead (29th minute), Khaled Narey made the decision (90th).
Bochum played outnumbered for about an hour because Danny Blum saw the red card for a gross foul (35th).
Hamburg came third with five points behind in the Ruhr area and was exposed to an early start of the Bochum team.
Daniel Thioune's team was rarely able to free itself with playful means, so the lead resulted from a free kick.
Bochum played offside in a free kick by Aaron Hunt, but left Onana alone, who took the ball at the penalty spot and then slid into the goal from close range (29th).
Violent foul by Blum
Although the Bochumers had controlled the game by then, even more went wrong: At the center line, Blum straddled Onana's legs from behind, with the cleats the Bochumer hit the scorer's calf.
Referee Felix Brych immediately showed Blum the red card (35th).
It shouldn't be the only tough duel in an intense game, but at least there was no longer any risk of injury over the long run.
Onana could go on.
But even in the majority, the playful superiority of the Hamburgers was missing.
After the last five games without a win in the second division, the structure seemed increasingly shaky.
And even against the ball, Hamburg was sometimes pushed into its own half, Bochum's goalkeeper Manuel Riemann sometimes acted almost at the center circle as the first development player.
However, Bochum was not really dangerous.
Instead, the substitute Narey made a decision after a Bochum mistake in the structure (90th).
Because the actual parallel game of Holstein Kiel in Heidenheim was canceled due to corona infections in Kiel, Bochum will keep the championship lead at least this weekend.
With two points behind and one game less, Kiel can reach the top position on its own.
Hamburg are also two points behind, but like Bochum they have played 25 games.
