At the end of their English week, Werder Bremen suffered an expected defeat against Bayern Munich.

The team of coach Florian Kohfeldt lost to the league leaders after goals from Leon Goretzka (22nd), Serge Gnabry (35th) and Robert Lewandowski (67th) 1: 3 (0: 2), Niclas Füllkrug (85th) scored for them Host.

The leadership fell according to a standard.

After a corner from Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller extended the ball to Goretzka, who hit with his head.

After that, Bremen barely managed to break free from their own half.

The second Bayern goal was then again due to the interaction of Kimmich, Müller and Gnabry - Müller accepted Kimmich's input with his chest and matched directly to Gnaby, who gave Jiri Pavlenka no chance in the Bremen goal.

In the second half, Lewandowski increased from close range after Bremen's Ludwig Augustinsson had an unfortunate deflection.

Before that, he had already hit the post and the crossbar.

Füllkrug at least managed to hit the consolation goal for Bremen.

The already low chances of FC Schalke 04 to stay in the class have become smaller again.

In the first away game of coach Dimitrios Grammozis, the bottom of the league lost 0: 5 (0: 1) at VfL Wolfsburg.

Ironically, an own goal by Shkodran Mustafi (31st minute) had put the hosts on the road to victory.

Right at the beginning of the second half, Wout Weghorst (51st) made the early decision in favor of the hosts, Ridle Baku (58th), Josip Brekalo (64th) and Maximilian Philipp (79th) increased again.

Schalke are now at least eleven points behind the relegation rank at the end of the table, Wolfsburg are unchanged in third place.

VfL would have had significantly more chances.

In the 15th minute, a hit was not recognized by the wolves.

A header from Josuha Guilavogui would have found the way into the goal on his own, but touched the foot of Mehmedi, who was offside.

Until then, Schalke had worked solidly in defense and occasionally tried to move forward.

Successful offensive moves were only made by Wolfsburg: When trying to clear the strong Guilavogui, Schalke's Malick Thiaw involuntarily put the ball on the head of Mustafi, who hit his own goal without being pushed.

The second half began with a second offside goal: Weghorst's header (50th) did not count.

A minute later he hit regularly from 15 meters.

Shortly thereafter, he prepared the goals of Baku and Brekalo.

There was no sign of the weakness of the two teams from the past few weeks, there were plenty of opportunities from the start.

Petar Musa (6th minute and 9th) forgave for Union, Salih Özcan failed for the guests to Union goalkeeper Andreas Luthe (23rd).

A quick turn by ex-national player Jonas Hector then had consequences: the surprised Robin Knoche fouled Cologne, Ondrej Duda converted the legitimate penalty for the lead for the guests (45th + 2).

A penalty also equalized: Max Kruse underpinned his reputation as a sure shooter (48th).

From the field, another hit: Union captain Christoph Trimmel and his first Bundesliga goal made it 2-1 (67th).

Remarkable: For the first time before a game in the Bundesliga, the hosts carried out corona rapid tests on people who were listed as part of the special game operation in the stadium at the Alte Försterei.

The club wants to gain knowledge from the process for an operation when spectators are allowed again.

As the new Mainz trainer, Bo Svensson has turned a veritable shooting gallery into a stable structure.

The trend of only four goals conceded from the last five games continued against Freiburg.

Apart from a shot at the outside post by Roland Sallai (40th minute), the guests did not come dangerously in front of the Mainz goal in the first half.

This in turn put an enormous amount of effort into a compact defense and almost rewarded himself with Danny da Costa - but his shot landed on the crossbar (23rd).

And aluminum goal number three was again reserved for Sallai, who hit the crossbar with a free kick in the 58th minute.

The decisive situation came from a substitute: Robin Quaison scored in the 84th minute to score the day's goal.

The Mainz team will move up from 17th to 16th place at least overnight, and tomorrow the Bielefeld team will be able to reverse this with a win in Leverkusen.
