Borussia Dortmund celebrated a 2-0 (0-0) home win over Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga.

BVB benefited from a gross mistake by Hertha's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein: A centrally placed long-range shot by Julian Brandt (54th minute) flew past Jarstein into the goal and decided the game.

Vladimir Darida saw the red card in the final phase after a foul (80th), Joker Youssoufa Moukoko scored the final score (90th + 1).

The first half was poor in highlights.

That was because Hertha BSC withdrew, left the ball to BVB and rarely took the risk even after winning the ball.

Above all, it was because the Dortmunders could not think of anything against the Berlin five-man chain.

If so, then the attacks ran over the right side: A cross from Mateu Morey jumped from Marco Reus' shin next to the goal (12th), a direct free kick flicked Reus on the crossbar (18th).

Hertha was only dangerous once: Deyovaisio Zeefuik brought a cross into the middle, Maximilian Mittelstädt the ball in distress but not on goal from five meters (24th).

Jude Bellingham had the greatest chance before the break: Thorgan Hazard had prevailed on the right and brought the ball into the middle, but Bellingham failed from a good ten meters on the brilliantly reacting Jarstein (33.).

Big mistakes between strong saves

After the break, Jarstein did not react brilliantly, but not at all: The 36-year-old underestimated a shot by Brandt from a central position 25 meters in front of the goal and reached into nothing, while the ball struck a few centimeters to the Dortmund lead (54th).

After that, BVB was closer to the next goal than the guest from Berlin, who continued to struggle offensively.

A deflected shot from Mahmoud Dahoud landed on the crossbar (61st), Jarstein saved a strong header from Emre Can (77th).

In the middle of an attempt at an urge phase in which Hertha BSC pressed higher, Darida saw the red card: Referee Martin Petersen sent the Czech off the field after he hit Reus from behind with the open sole on his foot (80th).

The BVB captain then had to be replaced injured (85th).

Substitute Moukoko, who tunneled Jarstein from an acute angle to make it 2-0 (90th + 1), set the final point.

In the table, BVB improved to fifth with 42 points, one point behind Eintracht Frankfurt in fourth.

On Sunday, Eintracht against RB Leipzig has the chance to pull away by four points again, just as Bayer Leverkusen could once again overtake Dortmund with a win against Arminia Bielefeld.

Hertha BSC, on the other hand, is still in the relegation battle and is in 15th place with 21 points, only because of the goal difference ahead of FSV Mainz 05, which occupies the relegation place.
