Almost a week of criticism has landed on the head of Cristiano Ronaldo, since Juventus were relegated from the Champions League by Porto already in the quarter-finals.

For the Portuguese it was a bit too much, and yesterday he just blew the whistle for all categories, when he scored a hat-trick in the league game against Cagliari (1: 3) and set the number of goals in official games at 770 - an all-time record.

Indeed, there is no overwhelming answer to this, for the 36-year-old Yuva star, who stabilized in first place, bypassing veteran record holder Pele.

The Brazilian legend has 767 goals in official games.

At the end of the game in which he set the record, Ronaldo refused to be interviewed - still angry at the media that "cut" him after the relegation from the Champions League, but found time to post a tribute to Pele, in which he explained that despite claims Pele scored only 757 goals, he did not dare break the record. So far, that he has acknowledged another contention, which has set the number of Pele's conquests, as aforesaid, at 767.

"You did it out of an endless appreciation for Pele," Ronaldo noted on his official Instagram, and very quickly the blessing came from the other side, also on Instagram.

"Life is a solo flight. Everyone makes their journey, and what a beautiful journey you have made," Pele wrote to Ronaldo, "I admire you, I love watching you play - it's no secret. Congratulations on breaking my record."

The 80-year-old Brazilian added: "My only regret is that I can not hug you now"
