The Holzkirchen sports development plan provides for the new construction of the ice rink.

But where?

Josef Wochinger from the Friends' Association has an idea that differs from that of the community.

Holzkirchen - The venerable Hubertuss Stadium is unmistakably part of the Holzkirchen town center.

But after more than 60 years, the traditional open-air ice rink is getting on in years.

Josef Wochinger is someone who knows this better than anyone else.

He is the chairman of the Friends' Association Ice and Multi-Purpose Hall in Holzkirchen and has been campaigning for a new building for several years.

"Back then it was built for the first team of the ESC Holzkirchen, that is, for 20 to 30 players," he says and adds: "It is simply no longer up-to-date."

In addition to the high energy consumption and the associated costs for the system, the youth work of the ESC and ESV Holzkirchen speaks for this.

“We have between 150 and 200 children who learn to ice skate and play ice hockey with us,” explains Wochinger.

In addition, there is the extremely popular public run for all those interested in ice skating.

Space and sufficient ice ages are therefore in short supply.

In addition, the development of the adjoining post office area is on the agenda of the market community.

A new ice rink is to be built - Wochinger and the Förderverein have been campaigning for this for several years and have had a perspective again since the end of 2020 thanks to the community's sports development plan (we reported).

At least among the longer-term projects there is a new building.

But where?

An option that Holzkirchen's mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) has at least examined: the Moarhölzl between Holzkirchen and Hartpenning as a great solution with football, ice sports, tennis and Co. (we reported).

"The outsourcing there is inconceivable," emphasizes Wochinger with a view to an ice rink.

“You have long ways to travel and, above all, the schools cannot be connected.

How is that supposed to work then? ”In addition, the necessary link to a federal highway would probably be an eternity project.

Wochinger hopes for a geothermal location

Ideal location for Wochinger: A new ice rink near geothermal energy in Holzkirchen.

"You could get the ice from a synergy of geothermal energy and warm water from the earth," he explains.

There are also two other major advantages.

Firstly, the area is located directly on the B 318 and the north spade, and secondly, students from several schools, such as the Holzkirchner Gymnasium, can use the ice rink for school sports.

Wochigner, on the other hand, rejects an interim solution for the aging Hubertusstadion.

The sports development plan brought plastic panels up for discussion.

“But that's not practical,” says Wochinger.

The running behavior on it is different.

Braking on ice skates in particular is much more difficult.

In addition, competition in ice hockey, figure skating or ice stock sports is not possible.

That was already the opinion of the ESC (we reported).

“The resulting plastic abrasion would also release a not inconsiderable amount of fine dust.

Therefore the application was withdrawn immediately. "

So it will be exciting to see how long the venerable Hubertus Stadium will have to wait for a successor.
