The University of Damascus has achieved first place in the general ranking of the university championship of karate and taekwondo, which was held by the National Union of Syrian Students in the Al-Galaa Sports City in Mezze with the participation of players who represented a number of universities and institutes from various governorates.

The results of the individual fighting championship within the female karate competitions resulted in the victory of a cotton lotus with a weight of under 50 kg, a girl with a weight of under 55 kg, a written verse of a weight of under 61 kg, a raima Mahrez who weighed under 68 kg and a victory over a weight of 68 kg.

In the male category, Khaled Darwish won under 60 kg, Muhammad Darwish weighed under 67 kg, Muhammad Melhem weighed under 75 kg, Mahmoud Al Sharabi weighed under 84 kg, and Muhammad Al-Ali weighed over 84 kg.

In the taekwondo championship, the weights championship in the women's category ended with the victory of Warda Juma weighing under 49 kg, Rahaf Suleiman weighing under 57 kg, Lynn Salhab weighing under 67 kg, and left Elias with a weight of over 67 kg. As for the men's category, she won her championship, Trapp Nisana with a weight under 58 kg and Muhammad Khairallah with a weight under 68 kg, Mutasim Buqa`i weighed under 80 kg, and Muhammad Nuruddin Maslamani weighed over 80 kg.

Member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Iyad Talab, said in a statement to the representative of Sana Sports, “This tournament comes within the framework of the tournaments and sports activities that the federation holds within its annual plan to develop and advance university sports, especially since universities and institutes possess many talents in various sports He pointed out that the federation will hold sports tournaments in other games in coordination with the Sports Federation and Games Federations.

President of the Karate Federation Jihad Mia pointed out that the Game Union directed towards the student segment because it has many talents that are able to reach the coronation podiums with serious training and strong determination, and he is ready to coordinate with the Student Union to establish joint tournaments that enable our experiences to select talents to work on preparing them optimally. And to bring it to the required skill level.

For his part, the President of the Taekwondo Federation, Sherif Derki, pointed out that the level of the championship was distinguished, especially as it witnessed the participation of a distinguished elite of Taekwondo players, as it is a necessary step to support the youth sports, explaining that the championship was held according to the electronic arbitration system approved by the World Federation of the Game.

A number of players expressed their happiness to participate in this tournament, which had strong competitions and was close to the level of the Republic Championships, indicating at the same time the continuation of training to participate in the university tournaments that will be held later.
