In intensive care for three days, Timur Fayzutdinov died Tuesday after receiving a puck on the top of the temple during a Russian junior league game on Friday night against the Loko of Yaroslavl.
The Russian player from Dynamo St. Petersburg was 19 years old.
After receiving the puck in the face, the young hockey player immediately collapsed on the ice.
The team doctor initially treated him on the ice before he was transported to the hospital in the city of Yaroslavl.
In serious condition, the young player could not be transferred to a better equipped establishment as desired by his parents.
“We understand it's a risk, but we have to take it,” the player's mother told Russian media 76.ru.
Doctors at the hospital told me it was the first time they had worked with this type of trauma.

The Russian League (KHL) also subsequently communicated: “The doctors fought for Timur's life for three days.
