2021-03-17T17:07:40.317Z

Franco-Senegalese defender Abdou Diallo is summoned for the first time by the Lions, at the same time as Idrissa Gueye. Remains to know

He had opened the door in November, here he is officially selected.

Abdou Diallo was called this Wednesday March 17 for the first time in his career by his parents' country of origin, Senegal.

The PSG defender is summoned by coach Aliou Cissé, as is Idrissa Gueye, the second Senegalese international from the capital club.

The Teranga Lions will play two qualifying matches for the African Cup of Nations against Congo (March 26) and Eswatini (March 30).

“To play for a national selection, that always represents something, I am Franco-Senegalese”, declared Diallo on the antennas of Europe 1. Aged 24, the left-hander has so far worn the jerseys of the French teams until the selection of hopes of which he was captain.

But he was never called to the A by Didier Deschamps.

A possibility of refusal because of the Covid

It remains to be seen whether his dream of wearing the Senegalese jersey will materialize during this truce.

PSG must still decide whether to release the internationals concerned by a possible quarantine on their return from selection.

The club in the capital has the option of refusing them to leave thanks to the regulations established by Fifa to counter the health restrictions linked to Covid-19.

Metz and Dijon have already made it known that they refused to release their extra-European players.

For its part, PSG is discussing with its internationals as well as with the French authorities in order to obtain exemptions to avoid the seven-day isolation, mandatory for all returns outside the European Union.

It is for this reason that the South American meetings, linked to the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, have been postponed by the Confederation of South America (CONMEBOL).
