Golf superstar Tiger Woods has left the hospital after a serious car accident and is back home in Florida.
The 45-year-old announced this in a message on his Twitter channel on Tuesday.
"I'll take a rest at home and work to get stronger every day," Woods wrote.
He also thanked us for all the good wishes and messages, as well as the care provided by the medical staff.
Woods was seriously but not fatally injured in the accident in February and had to undergo an operation.
He had lost control of his car in a suburb of Los Angeles and rolled over several times.
His management reported several broken bones thereafter.
He suffered open debris fractures on his shin and other injuries.
According to police, Woods had been driving at excessive speed on a steeply sloping road.
The athlete was very lucky given the considerable damage to his vehicle.
“Everything was broken in the front and back, but the interior was largely undamaged.
That was the cushion, otherwise it would have been fatal, ”said a spokesman.
Woods had subsequently undergone complicated surgery to treat "significant orthopedic injuries" to his right lower leg and ankle.
This included inserting a stick into Woods' shin and using a combination of screws and pins to stabilize his foot and ankle.
Whether he can continue his professional golf career is open (read more about it here).
