The ascent is probably no longer possible for TSV 1860 and Türkgücü. Nevertheless, there is an exciting season finale in the fight for participation in the DFB Cup.

The ascent is probably no longer possible for TSV 1860 and Türkgücü.

Nevertheless, there is an exciting season finale in the fight for participation in the DFB Cup.

Munich - On Monday and Wednesday evening, Türkgücü Munich and TSV 1860 were finally brought back to the ground.

At the end of the 28th matchday, the promoted team lost 3-0 against effective Rostockers in the Grünwalder Stadium.

The Lions only got a goalless draw in the catch-up game at bottom of the league VfB Lübeck.

Both teams can tick off the dream of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga after the two games.

Türkgücü is 14 points short of third in the table, nine points for the Lions.

With ten league games still to go, a big deficit that may not even be made up by a winning streak.

The goal for the current season will be the same for both clubs: qualifying for the DFB Cup.

Although the ascension march is supposedly gone, the fight for the financially lucrative first main round holds a lot of tension.

There are two possible ways of doing this, winning the Toto Cup or fourth place in the final table of the 3rd division.

Both clubs are still in the running in both competitions.

In the Toto Cup, the BFV came up with an innovation in the Corona year.

The four Bavarian third division clubs Ingolstadt, Türkgücü, TSV 1860 and SpVgg Unterhaching - the 2nd team of FC Bayern does not take part in the competition - play off a participant in a playoff round, who then enters the race as the top favorite in the quarter-finals against the amateurs is about victory.

Türkgücü Munich against TSV 1860: First "final" for DFB Cup participation at the end of March possible

During the international break next week, Türkgücü will initially play against Haching in the Grünwalder Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Three days later, the lions compete against FC Ingolstadt in the same place.

The winners of both games will then play on Tuesday, March 30th, in the “final” for a place in the Toto Cup quarter-finals.

The winner of the game between the lions and the Schanzers has home rights.

The first final for the DFB-Pokal participation between TSV 1860 and Türkgücü could rise in just under two weeks - provided both teams win the first round of the elimination and the winner of the third division elimination lives up to his role as a favorite from the quarter-finals and get the cup.

The second and probably even more difficult way to get the income from the 1st main round is through the rest of the season in the 3rd division.

The Lions are in pole position and after the draw in Lübeck they are in the coveted 4th place, which entitles them to participate in the DFB Cup.

Behind the blue jostle the tied 1. FC Saarbrücken (45), Verl and Wehen Wiesbaden (44) and only then Türkgücü (40).

The ambitious newcomer, who under the new coach Serdar Dayat with a draw and two defeats did not make the hoped-for upswing after separating from Alex Schmidt, has to catch up in the fight for the "Munich championship" of the 3rd division.

The derby against the Lions in the Grünwalder Stadium could then be of particular importance: On the 32nd matchday, Türkgücü has home rights against the Sechzger.
