LE SCAN SPORT - While part of France will be reconfigured for a month, the Minister of National Education and Sports returned to these measures concerning the practice of sport in France by also evoking the possible return of the public in stadiums.

The worrying figures of the Covid epidemic prompted the government to announce on Thursday the return of confinement in 16 departments in France.

A new turn of the screw which has consequences for the practice of sport in France.

The French will still be able to travel to exercise physical activity in these areas affected by the new measures but they will need to have an exit certificate which will allow them to move within a radius of 10 km around their home and without limitation of time.

Gyms can reopen at school

Prime Minister Jean Castex said Thursday evening that physical education and sports during school time can resume "normally".

Outdoor extracurricular sports activities for minors are maintained.

This Friday, Jean-Michel Blanquer, interviewed on

BFM TV

detailed the government's position.

“For physical education and in school time, gymnasiums can reopen, this is one of the innovations.

Children remain our priority.

One of the problems with young people is a sedentary lifestyle.

We authorize outdoor sports activities as long as they are not contact activities.

And then, we allow physical education in school time, in a closed environment, as soon as the protocol developed in the first trimester is applied.

The swimming pool during school time is once again possible. ”

The Minister of National Education and Sports also spoke about the situation of the public in the stadiums as 5,000 spectators prepare to attend the international meeting between the Netherlands and Lithuania on March 27.

“These are interesting experiments.

We are watching this with Roxana Maracineanu (Minister Delegate in charge of Sports) closely.

If in the future, that will allow us to return to the stadium more quickly, that's interesting. ”

An experiment of this type should not be ruled out soon: "Why not," answers Blanquer.

It is something that I do not forbid myself.

We talk a lot with the Federations all the time, since we have a bill on sport which passed the Assembly the day before yesterday.

We obviously have a great desire to return to the stadium but it has to happen in good conditions, why not with this kind of formula. "
