Containment: the practice of sport, where, when and how?

2021-03-19T19:50:10.389Z

Despite a new confinement, sports practice is still possible, in clubs and outdoors, but now within a radius of 10 km from

If during previous confinements, many French people complained that they could no longer practice physical activity outside, from now on, the government's slogan would rather be "ventilate yourself!"

".

Gone is the rule "one hour of sport per day, within a radius of 1 km around your home", in force in March and October.

All establishments dedicated to outdoor activities (golf course, sailing sites, outdoor tennis courts, etc.) are open throughout France.

Sport and health: despite the pandemic, "we must move at all costs"

In confined departments, physical activity is permitted as much as one wishes, until 7 p.m., whether in a club (what the government calls "supervised practice") or not.

Under certain conditions, however: complete a certificate, be within 10 km of your home, stay outside and respect the health protocols in force, throughout the territory (no contact, no collective practice).

PSE classes resume normally on Monday

In summary, jogging, golf and tennis in the open air are possible within a radius of 10 km from his home, not the game of football with friends in a park.

Apart from the 10 km rule, sport is therefore the same whether you are in a confined area or not.

The same goes for minors who will therefore be able, including in confined areas, to continue to play sports outdoors, within sports associations, with again the 10 km rule that is required.

A notable change from the two previous confinements, where all supervised activities were suspended, which responds to the government's desire to maintain an almost normal education system for children.

The resumption of sports activities in indoor environments is however still not possible, due to the mixing of populations considered too important.

At least in clubs ...

Because the big news is that from Monday, physical education and sports (EPS) classes normally resume in primary, college and high school.

Closed since mid-January (except for high-level athletes, people with serious illnesses or disabled), gymnasiums and swimming pools will reopen for schoolchildren, everywhere in France.

The health protocols will be those in force in November (distancing, no mixing, etc.).

Sports associations in middle and high school also operate, but UNSS meetings between establishments remain suspended, due to the risk of contamination potentially caused by the mixing of populations.
