Twenty-four years old, Luc Alphand finally holds his French successor. Alexis Pinturault won the big ski crystal globe this Saturday

His phone has been on an unwanted vibrator for several tens of minutes.

Alexis Pinturault has just been crowned best skier of the season in the World Cup.

A trophy which escaped France since 1997 and the victory, also at the end of a stressful final, of Luc Alphand at Vail in the United States.

Joined by Le Parisien - Today in France this Saturday, March 20 at midday, the native of Briançon says all his joy to see another French register his name on the prize list.

He lived this feat from France and looks forward to the return of the hero.

What's going on in your head a few minutes after this French victory?

LUC ALPHAND.

It's fantastic.

We have been waiting for it for so long.

Alexis arrives there on her birthday.

It's awesome.

What a champion, what panache!

Being there on D-Day is just the mark of great champions.

He didn't tremble.

He has been working on this goal for so long.

He made so many sacrifices.

This goal is achieved at the end of a difficult season and a tense finale ...

Alexis' season has been just fantastic.

He's been good all the time, except early March.

But what solidity, once again.

And then with this coronation, he erases the frustration of the Cortina Worlds in February

(Editor's note: Pinturault had

missed a door in the giant

, event where he was favorite)

.

How does it feel to finally have a successor?

I am delighted.

It is first of all a liberation for him, with all the stress that he put on and that we put on us too.

Now I can't wait to meet him.

We're going to do a handover as quickly as possible.

It's a big day for French skiing.

But I also think of everyone in the mountains who closed their stations this winter.

Doesn't this title also say something about the return to the foreground of French skiing?

Champions, we have had in recent years with Jean-Baptiste Grange, Antoine Dénériaz or Jean-Luc Crétier.

But it is sure that it will give envy for a next generation.

And then, we still have Faivre on the podium today.

It is all promising!
