The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced today that international fans will not be allowed to enter Japan during the Olympic Games postponed to this summer, amid public concerns about the Corona epidemic.
"The value of tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic Games purchased by residents abroad will be refunded," said the statement issued after a meeting involving IOC President Thomas Bach and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike.
"It is very regrettable, but the outcome is inevitable given that the main priority for hosting a successful Games will be the health of the Japanese athletes and the public," Koike said.
The Olympic Games, which were postponed last year due to the Corona pandemic, are scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, and the Paralympic Games from August 24 to September 5.
