President Fritz Keller and General Secretary Friedrich Curtius are apparently leading a bitter power struggle in the DFB.

Keller's office manager has now been caught.

The largest national sports federation in the world just cannot calm down.

In the German Football Association * - DFB for short - a power struggle is raging, the end of which is not yet in sight.

Or is it?

Right in the middle: President Fritz Keller.

The 63-year-old took over the scepter in September 2019, but his term of office is threatening to end prematurely.

After Wolfgang Niersbach, who had to take his hat off because of the summer fairy tale affair, and Reinhard Grindel, who was undoed by a gifted luxury watch, he would be the third DFB boss who had to give up his office prematurely in the last five and a half years.

The relationship between Keller and Secretary General Friedrich Curtius has been considered broken for months.

Curtius is said to have transmitted information to the media via third parties "which were aimed at damaging the reputation of the DFL," quoted the

Bild

and the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

from a DFL letter.

But Keller's standing had also been massively damaged by internal information that had been leaked over and over again.

DFB: ongoing dispute between Keller and Curtius - internals leaked repeatedly

There have been attempts to mend the relationship, the last one on January 15th.

On that day, the opponents agreed a truce.

After a six-hour crisis meeting on Friday, the president and his general secretary will "immediately make a final joint attempt to discuss and define rules and roles for future joint professional cooperation".

But only two weeks later, the resolutions were gone.

Because internals had leaked again before the presidium meeting *, the power struggle flared up again.

Keller's most important man was last fired.

According to the

picture

, office manager Samy Hamama is said to have illegally gained access to documents at the end of 2020.

And Keller is said to have commissioned Hamama to do this.

The

Spiegel

reports

.

In an email from Keller to DFB officials, it should be said: Hamama acted on his "express instructions for the purpose" of "complete information about internal processes" when he looked for the consultant invoice in the accounting database.

DFB: Hamama is probably thrown out because of a cellar contract - will the president follow him?

Hamama is currently defending himself unsuccessfully against being thrown out.

Will Keller soon feel the same way?

It seems that the DFB President scored an own goal with an informant assignment.

Hamama had photographed an invoice from media consultant Kurt Diekmann.

A little later she was shown on ZDF.

The controlling employee of the DFB explains that the invoice can be recognized without a doubt by means of a marking.

It fits together that an external law firm describes the cellar office manager as the “primary source of ZDF”.

Confidentiality obligations were demonstrably violated.

With machinations intended to harm Friedrich Curtius in the power struggle, Fritz Keller seems to be sidelining himself.

The state associations and the presidium have to decide whether the mud fight is simply too much.
