The huge failure of Betar Jerusalem hovered in the air for several weeks, but yesterday (Saturday), after the team lost to MS Ashdod, and remained in the lower playoffs, the pair of coaches Slobodan Drapic and Shai Barda took responsibility and resigned.
"This season is a horror," say Betar Jerusalem, "some players have received too much credit from the coaches and that is the result." The team adds: "Everyone is to blame for this failure, there are many conclusions we will have to draw."
As of this writing, it seems that the professional director of the youth department, Yossi Mizrahi, will guide the team in the playoffs, with Betar's new goal being not to accidentally get involved in the underground struggles, to stay in the league as soon as possible and start preparing for next season.
At this point owner Moshe Hogg is in no hurry to decide on the identity of the coach for next season, with the club having some who support bringing in a foreign coach, a move that will cost quite a bit of money, but some also supporting bringing in one of the league's most successful coaches.
"There will be a lot of changes next season," the team estimates.
It is estimated that Betar will try to say goodbye to some of its foreigners in the summer, such as Glaofilo Hasselbaink and Santiago Ocampus, by lending them or releasing them.
