Top 14: Stade Français formalizes Gaël Fickou's departure from Racing

The international center will join the ranks of Racing 92. Stade Français has indicated that they have reached an agreement to release him.


It is by a press release that the Stade Français formalized the departure of Gaël Fickou for the Alto-Sequanais club.

"After several weeks of discussion, the Stade Français Paris and Racing 92 have reached an agreement allowing the release of Gaël Fickou", indicates, this Sunday, the club of the capital.

The 26-year-old XV de France center, trained at RC Toulon, made his Top 14 debut with Stade Toulouse during the 2012-2013 season.

He joined Stade Français in 2018 and was initially engaged with the club until 2023. Fickou will finally leave him at the end of this season.

Stade Français, which wanted to lower its payroll, currently occupies eighth place in the Top 14 ranking.

"The Stade Français Paris would like to warmly thank Gaël for these years spent under the pink colors", indicates the club.

The press release also mentions a "targeted and ambitious recruitment".

Formalizations should "intervene quickly".

According to information from Midi Olympique, Fickou, who has 62 caps with the XV of France, would have signed up for the next four seasons with Racing 92. He notably joined Virimi Vakatawa, his teammate with the Blues.

Racing 92, for its part, made official on Friday March 19 the departure of its opening half François Trinh-Duc to Union Bordeaux-Bègles for next season.

Other departures, including that of winger Teddy Thomas, have already been mentioned.
