EA Schongau has long since focused its gaze on the coming season.

The Bayern league team is tinkering with the squad and has also spiced up its logo.

For the players, the EAS relies on a proven concept.

Schongau - a new board of directors, a new coaching team - and now a new nickname.

TSV Peißenberg is counting on a completely new beginning in the field of ice hockey.

The team from the market town now officially operates as "Miners" in the Bavarian League (we reported).

In the case of league competitor EA Schongau, on the other hand, everything remains the same at the functionary and club level, with one exception.

"We have revised our logo," reports EAS team manager Martin Resch.

The presentation of the new club emblem of the Schongau ice hockey department, which is celebrating its 70th birthday this year, should take place in the next few months.

"After all, you always have to be open to new things in the club," says Resch, also somewhat ambiguously, in the direction of the neighbor von der Ammer.

Like the Peissenbergers, the “Mammoths” - the EAS's nickname will not change - are currently busy putting together the squad for the coming season.

"We're early, but that's the case with everyone," explains Resch, who has already had numerous conversations with the players.

"We will certainly have a few departures, most of which will be job-related." Resch did not want to name anybody yet.

He even sees a certain amount of entries and exits as helpful in order to improve the quality of the team as a whole: "Changes then also offer others the opportunity to take on more responsibility."

Team manager Resch rules out major upheaval

But he rules out a major upheaval.

"We want to keep a large part of the squad, after all, we were quite competitive in the short Corona season," said Resch.

The "Mammoths" played six games in the 2020/2021 season, which was canceled due to the pandemic.

From this they got seven points (2 wins / 4 losses).

Striking: The team of trainer Rainer Höfler got all points on home ice.

The best scorers in the “Mammuts” squad were the two contingent players: Roman Tomanek (7 points / 2 goals / 5 assists) and Jakub Muzik (6 points / 3 goals / 3 assists).

The manager also sees room for improvement: “We know where our construction sites are.” He plans to announce the first personnel decisions by April at the latest.

Nonetheless, he is confident that he will again get a good squad on the ice.

"I think it looks pretty good," says the team manager, who continues to rely on players from the region.

"What else is financially not even possible."

How the coming season will turn out is still completely unclear.

The Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) has various scenarios in mind, for example with regard to the spectators in the stadiums.

This and more will be the subject of an online conference scheduled for later this week.

"It will be exciting to see how Corona develops this year, although the pandemic will definitely affect the next season," says Resch before the exchange between the BEV and the club representatives from the Bayernliga.

"You have to be aware that we are in the amateur and not the professional field," he makes clear.
