The chess players at SC Moosburg were very happy: the team won the group on their debut in the German Chess Online League.

Moosburg

- With two successes to the final sprint, the SC Moosburg team secured first place in the group A of the 4th league.

The Dreirosenstadters get involved in their first participation in the playoffs of the German Chess Online League (DSOL).

“I think it's really sensational, I never expected that”, team captain Mathias Schwenck draws an almost euphoric balance after seven preliminary round matches.

“Because the teams were divided into the leagues according to their level of play - and we were in the middle of our group in terms of rating.

Our advantage was that, unlike the others, we almost always played with the strongest line-up.

I'm just thrilled that we have now won our group. ”And further:“ At the start of the season, I didn't even know that there would be playoffs afterwards, because I didn't think we could end up that far ahead. ”

Five wins and two draws in seven games

In the end, the chess players from Dreirosenstadt move undefeated into the playoffs of the 4th division with five wins and two draws.

Even before the last matchday on Tuesday, it was clear that the Moosburgers would reach the round of the last eight out of the four groups.

Because on Friday the SC had won their "home game" against Torgelow with 3: 1, while pursuers Gräfelfing had lost against the previous bottom Ansbach with 1.5: 2.5.

Moosburg's Almir Azemovic and team captain Mathias Schwenck had defeated their opponents from Torgelow, while Matthias Melcher had to admit defeat on the second board.

So it was up to Luis Hobmeier to close the sack: The 18-year-old was clearly on a draw course on the third board, but had already put his opponent in dire time constraints, so that he even lost in the end.

SC Moosburg leaves nothing to burn against SV Eutin

The last game day on Tuesday was completely undramatic for Moosburg.

Because a 2-2 draw in the pursuit duel between SK Graefelfing and SG Porz III the evening before had already given them the group victory.

Nevertheless, the SC players wanted to remain unbeaten - and they achieved that with a 2.5: 1.5 victory over SV Eutin.

Almir Azemovic and Izudin Jasarevic won their games.

Schwenck played a draw, Hobmeier was checkmated this time.

In the league preliminary round, Schwenck was the most successful Moosburger with five points from six games.

However, Azemovic, who scored 4.5 points from six games on the first board, was mainly responsible for winning the group.

The quarter-finals will take place after Easter

After seven games this season, the conclusion remains that all duels were close.

In Schwenck's opinion, the division into leagues based on the average strength of the four regular players guarantees these exciting games - and it will stay that way in the playoffs.

Therefore, he hopes to be able to compete with the best line-up in the last eight.

The quarter-finals will take place after Easter on Friday, April 16, at 7.30 p.m.

The opponent was not yet certain on Wednesday afternoon.
