The volleyball department at SC Freising is preparing everything for a possible training session from mid-April.

The date for the Beach Masters has already been set.

Freising

- The corona pandemic has been influencing and changing people's lives in many areas for a year.

Team sports such as volleyball have been put on hold.

What's next in view of the third wave and the extended lockdown?

The volleyball players at SC Freising are therefore worried about the future, but hope that after April 18, beach volleyball can be started on the club's own four courts.

The 2020/21 volleyball season fell victim to Corona.

The desire to finally feel a volleyball between your fingers again is great.

“But we still have to see that we do recreational sports and that there are currently other priorities for many people than the question: When can I play volleyball again?”, Says Dejan Jankovic, head of department at SC Freising.

Exits are limited

Of course, he is worried and worried about how things will continue now: He now knows from some volleyball clubs that members have said goodbye to club activities.

Practically no training has been possible in the hall for a year.

Many therefore probably wondered what they paid contributions for.

"Some clubs had therefore considered whether they should reimburse their members for the club fee for 2020," explains Jankovic.

"The association strongly advised against it because the club would then lose its non-profit status." He was glad that only very few members had left the volleyball department of the sports club.

“In principle, that's not much different than in previous years.

A normal fluctuation.

Of course, we hardly have any new additions. "

The upcoming third wave will hardly allow indoor training in the near future.

But SCF volleyball players hope that after April 18, when the extended lockdown ends, politics will at least approve of outdoor beach volleyball.

“We could definitely enable non-contact training outdoors,” says Jankovic.

The volleyball players could live reasonably well with the current lockdown: "In the last few years we have hardly started beachen earlier." In any case, there is nothing left but to hope that it will start after April 18th.

"We just have to be patient," says the SCF division head.

In order to be prepared, the sports club volleyball players will get their four seats out of hibernation over the next few weeks and make them fit for the summer season.

"At the same time, we will meet with all the trainers online and think about how we can organize a meaningful training program," reveals Jankovic.

Because while the SCF volleyball players did not have well-organized beach training on their schedule in the past, that is about to change now.

"We haven't been able to train in the last few months, everyone finally wants to play properly again."

We could definitely enable non-contact training outdoors.

Sports club department head Dejan Jankovic

Jankovic is particularly interested in the next generation: he can imagine that the trainers, if they run out of time, offer training times.

But that always depends on the weather.

"That is why in the past the teams have always arranged a meeting at the beach facility at very short notice via their WhatsApp group." Jankovic is also open to the fact that non-club members can drop by at the sports club's squares.

"There is sure to be a leisure or youth team that you can play with."

If the incidence figures allow outdoor competitions from May onwards, the Bavarian Volleyball Association (BVV) has announced that it will organize a small round of points - not two against two, as in the case of beach, but four against four.

“It's a good idea, but we don't know any details yet,” says Jankovic.

In any case, BVV is already planning its big beach championships.

The organizers asked the sports club whether a high-class Beach Masters could be held in Freising, as in previous years.

"We have planned the weekend, June 19th and 20th," Jankovic has already agreed in advance.

If Corona allows it, he would prefer to offer a beach tournament for school and company teams parallel to the Masters.

"Such tournaments have always been very popular in the past."

Department takes no chances at Masters

With a look at the incidence values in the district, however, the department head doubts whether there will be permission for such competitions in June.

That is why he does not want to take the risk of setting up a center court with grandstands at great financial expense in the Luitpoldanlage.

"We'll probably have to plan very quickly."

No matter how the corona pandemic will develop in the next few weeks, Jankovic is happy that the volleyball players have remained loyal to their club so far.

The department management is now obliged to prepare everything for the members so that at least an outdoor training session could be possible.

At the moment, Jankovic cannot foresee how the volleyball sport will go on in general in the next few months: "We would of course be happy if we could start again with indoor training from September at least." if the vaccination schedule could not be completed by late summer.

Then you may have to postpone the start of the season or make the leagues smaller in order to be able to plan a slimmed-down season, so the considerations of Jankovic.

But now the focus is initially on the beach season.

In the hope that the corona development does not interfere.
