Krasnojarsk / Bad Tölz - The young freestylers of the German Ski Association (DSV) took a long journey to get to the youth world championship.
In the Siberian Krasnoyarsk, around 3,300 kilometers east of Moscow, the Russian hosts had created perfect conditions for the mogul disciplines single and dual.
Wagner, the youngest of all World Cup participants
The long journey paid off for the DSV.
With 14-year-old Felix Wagner from SC Bad Tölz, the German federation provided the youngest of all World Cup participants.
He qualified for the World Cup three weeks ago in Airolo during his first European Cup appearance and had to assert himself here against the sometimes four or five years older and more experienced competition.
When skiing mogul slopes, the time that makes up 20 percent of the overall evaluation, as well as the driving technique (60 percent) and the two jumps, which make up the remaining 20 percent, are evaluated.
Two backflips: backflip grab and backflip cross
In the individual, the young Tölzer qualified straight away for the final of the best 16. With his two backflips, a backflip grab and a backflip cross, and with clean runs, he reached 13th place in the final statement. says Ferdl Eichner, trainer and sports manager in the Oberland Ski Association.
Six years ago he took Wagner under his wing for the first time and was convinced of his talent right from the start.
Early exit in dual competition
In the dual, the freestylers drove against each other in parallel mode, with the respective winner qualifying for the next round.
Here the race ended early for Felix Wagner.
In the first round he met the later silver medalist Artem Shuldiakov.
In the final bill, that meant the youngster ranked 14th.
