Germany also managed to win in the second qualifying game for the 2022 World Cup.
The DFB team won 1-0 (1-0) against Romania in Bucharest, with another goal in the early stages, striker Serge Gnabry scored it (16th minute).
The away game in Bucharest was probably the biggest hurdle for the German team on the way to the controversial tournament in Qatar.
Only the first in the group qualifies directly for this, the second has the chance to secure participation via the play-offs.
National coach Joachim Löw bet exactly on the starting line-up that had started in the successful start against Iceland (3-0).
The slightly ailing Leon Goretzka was also able to play.
Kimmich hits the bar
The German team started fast, Kai Havertz had the first opportunity after a pass from Serge Gnabry, but Romania's goalkeeper Florian Nita parried his leg.
After a long pass from Antonio Rüdiger, it was Havertz who put on the German lead for Gnabry (16th).
Shortly afterwards, the next hit was almost made, but Joshua Kimmich's deflected shot from a good 25 yards hit the crossbar (19th).
The only other big chance had again the German center striker Gnabry.
After a cross from Lukas Klostermann he came free, but did not hit the ball properly.
Romania was hardly dangerous in front of the German goal, it was 7-2 shots on goal in total - the home team was busy defending the DFB team.
Opportunities almost every minute
Even after the break, Germany came to terms with deals.
Gnabry, who started dribbling at the center line, failed just inside the penalty area to Nita, who reacted quickly.
After a one-two between Bayern players Leroy Sané and Gnabry, Sané's finish went just a few centimeters past the post to the right.
The German team played their attacks more purposefully than before the break - only there was a lack of opportunities to exploit.
And suddenly George Puscas had the opportunity to equalize.
His shot, however, too centered to overcome Manuel Neuer.
Shortly before the end of the game, the DFB-Elf had to tremble again when Nicolae Stanciu hit the side netting from an acute angle.
Germany is still first in the World Cup qualifying group J. Armenia, which won 2-0 against Iceland in the evening and is second, is probably the biggest competitor of the German team.
North Macedonia also beat Liechtenstein 5-0.
