After having been the coach of US Ivry from 2009 to 2014, Pierre Mbappé (47 years old), the uncle of world champion Kylian, is making his return to the Val-de-Marne club playing in N3 (5th division ).
He will be definitively inducted as president of the football section during the management committee on April 19.
Determined by this new challenge, the former legal educator tells us about his ambitions and talks about his nephew.
Why are you taking over the presidency of US Ivry?
PIERRE MBAPPÉ.
For two years, the club asked me to give them a hand.
But I was not ready, because I was embarking on the creation of a support business.
When the president, Christophe Arquizan resigned, it was time to get started.
I have been a player, trainer, sports director, recruiter, I have known amateur football, corporate football and the professional world through my nephew.
I have a vision of the entire football ecosystem.
Suspecting poor management of the club, the town hall had initiated a control procedure.
Have these tensions subsided?
I liked the transparency of Christophe Arquizan.
I did not see myself being president of a club in conflict with the municipality, because the latter is the number 1 sponsor. We spoke well with the mayor and his deputies.
I want to bring back a new dynamic.
A club is a monumental social and societal link in a city.
Beyond the 800 licensees, you mobilize and educate 3,000 or 4,000 people.
What are your first steps going to be?
The priority is to restructure the club so that it functions with clarity and visibility.
I want to have consultants in each pole: administrative, communication, technical and training.
We want to increase the number of licensees, develop women's football, and create a table football section by integrating parents so that they can do the activity with the children.
Success in sport begins with good organization.

You have to provide solutions and be innovative during this period to get by.
Is it easier to find sponsors when your name is Mbappé?
My name can help me sit down with people, but the most important thing is your speech which will allow you to convince them.
I'm not a sweet dreamer, it's complicated for everyone.
But Ivry is a dynamic, sporty city ... The idea is to find as many people as possible to accompany us.
The goal is to train a new Kylian Mbappé?
If we can do it that would be great, but a Kylian is very rare.
All clubs dream of recruiting Kylian, I dream of recruiting his father Wilfrid.
I know he has a lot of work to do and he can't.
I would like him to help me.
For the training of young people, this is the best!
He knows how to identify the potential and then make progress.
He trained 15 to 20 kids in Bondy who became pros and some internationals (Ikoné, Saliba, Corchia ...).

Will you ask Kylian to come to Ivry?
He has already come here to train before the resumption at Clairefontaine.
At the time, he was 14-15 years old.
I had set up an exercise for my senior team (then in CFA) and it was the only one to have succeeded.
I had scolded my players!

I would be delighted if he would come back to the stadium if the opportunity arises, but I would especially like Jimmy Briand (former international passed through Bordeaux), Marie-Antoinette Katoto (player of PSG and Les Bleues) and Cédric Bakambu (ex- Villareal), trained in Ivry, can give some time to see the kids.
The latter identify with those who have worn the jersey.
How do you relate to Kylian?
I am his uncle and I stay in my place, without inventing a life for myself.
Kylian brought a freshness back to my life.
Since he's been pro, I've only missed five of his games.
Kylian was exceptional in Barcelona (treble) and Lyon (double) but less good in Bosnia ...
He's a soccer player, that's all.
It's a complicated year for a lot of people, both mentally and physically.
He is only 22 years old.
What he has achieved so far is fantastic.

How has Kylian progressed?
In all areas !
He has matured.
Let's look at his statistics.
He won the World Cup and played in a Champions League final ... We see a different PSG with and without Kylian, we see a different French team with and without Kylian.
Even when he is average, he pushes the opposing team back.
Against Ukraine, the coach even admitted that he had concocted an anti-Mbappé plan.
