Ligue 1: in Lille, the changes at step count of President Olivier Létang

2021-04-03T05:16:27.800Z

Appointed president of LOSC, last December, the former sports director of PSG has already made some changes in the organization chart no.

There is what he did not want to change - the trainer Christophe Galtier - and what he started to modify without any announcements effect, but with the desire to make Losc "a strong club", like it often repeats it internally.

Appointed president of the northern club on December 18 by the new shareholder Merlyn Partners, Olivier Létang has not fundamentally upset the functioning of the professional team as he had done on his arrival in Rennes with the replacement of Christian Gourcuff by Sabri Lamouchi.

After carrying out his own audit - still in progress, moreover - the former boss of Stade Rennais began to redraw the organization chart.

He recalled the faithful, with the appointment of Didier Roudet as deputy general manager and Sylvain Armand at the head of the sports sector, two men who were already accompanying him during his visit to Brittany between 2017 and 2020.

Two men on whom the former deputy sports director and then sports director of PSG between 2012 and 2017 knows how to count.

A player in Nantes and at PSG in particular, Armand plays an important role with the professional team as he already did in Rennes.

The new president of the Mastiffs has also separated from Florian Fieschi the press secretary in post since 2017, considered too close to ... Luis Campos, the former advisor to Gérard Lopez, ex-owner of the club.

He was replaced by Nicolas Parent, a former from Boulogne-sur-Mer and more recently from Saint-Etienne.

Work to be done

In order not to affect the dynamics of the results of Galtier and his men, Létang did not wish to revolutionize the sports sector.

It therefore acts by keys.

After the departure of Luis Campos, the big boss of scouting in Lille with unquestionable success in the search for talent, a recruitment unit was also set up.

The appointment of its coordinator is to be announced shortly.

While Losc does not have a “performance” department, Lille has also set up a “player analysis, methodology and data” department with Adrien Tarascon, a former PSG and Monaco alumnus, at its head.

This new entity must create a sort of bridge between the professional sector and that of training.

Indeed, this is one of the major projects for the years to come in the North.

During their audit, the new owners of Losc noted that the teams of young people are dragging themselves.

Lille is thus ranked 24th among training centers, when PSG occupies 1st place and a club like Châteauroux 22nd.

It must be said that with 109 players currently under contract at Losc, including 57 professionals, it is not easy for apprentices to find a place in the sun.

The new management team therefore wishes to rationalize this sector and return to standards that are current in the community with 23 to 24 professional players accompanied by ten young people who have signed their first contract.

This would avoid counting in the workforce, players like ex-Neapolitans Claudio Manzi, Luigi Liguori and Ciro Palmieri, involved in Victor Osimhen's deal last summer in Naples.

Currently on loan to Fermana, in Serie C, these three have all the trouble in the world to impose themselves.

Suffice to say that in Lille there is still work to do.

And fat to trim.
