Real Sociedad won the Spanish soccer trophy of the preseason just under a year late.
The team from San Sebastián prevailed 1-0 (0-0) in the final of two Basque teams against Athletic Bilbao in Seville on Saturday evening.
Mikel Oyarzabal scored the decisive goal with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Copa del Rey final did not take place in April 2020 as originally planned, but was postponed to the spring of the following year.
The reason for this was the hope to be able to allow spectators in the stadium again at this point in time.
That did not happen, the game in the Olympic Stadium in Seville took place without an audience.
According to media reports, numerous fans of Bilbao gathered on the streets and violated Corona requirements.
Authorities called for this not to be done.
There should also have been clashes with the police.
The Real Sociedad fans also disregarded the distance requirements in the run-up.

On April 17th, the cup final of this season will be played against FC Barcelona - the game of the record cup winners (Barça, 30 titles) against the second most successful club in the history of the competition (Bilbao, 23 titles).
