It is a small ray of hope with more than two months of Euro 2021. Three football matches will take place in front of the public in the coming weeks in Wembley stadium.

On April 18, the FA Cup semi-final between Leicester and Southampton will take place in front of 4,000 supporters.

A week later, this audience will be doubled on the occasion of the League Cup final between Tottenham and Manchester City.

Finally, 21,000 spectators will attend the FA Cup final on May 15, nearly a quarter of the stadium's capacity.

These three matches are part of nine trials conducted by the British government as part of the establishment of a health passport.

The latter will aim to allow large gatherings but will not be required in public transport, essential shops or pubs when they reopen.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will detail the project on Monday.

The health passport will show that a person has been vaccinated, is coronavirus negative, or has antibodies.

The document could be available in paper format but would also be available via a digital application.

The development of this health passport could be facilitated by the particularly effective vaccination campaign in the United Kingdom, the European country most bereaved by the pandemic with 127,000 deaths from the coronavirus.

To date, more than 31.4 million British citizens have received a first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and more than 5 million are fully vaccinated.

If 70 British deputies have been hostile to this health passport which they consider discriminatory, its implementation could have consequences on the organizational arrangements for Euro 2021. These should be clarified at the next Congress of the UEFA, on April 20, when the European football body has already affirmed its desire to organize the competition with supporters.

A few days ago, UEFA also lifted the 30% limit for European competitions, leaving national and local authorities to decide the number of spectators allowed in the stadiums.

The UK is one of 12 host countries for the competition, and both semi-finals and the final will take place at Wembley.

Faced with a still worrying health situation in Europe, one of the options considered for a time was to regroup all the matches in one and the same country, the United Kingdom being the main candidate.
