The Syrian Olympic Committee discussed with the Football Association the reality of the first Syrian team, especially after its loss in the last two friendly matches against Bahrain and Iran.
The head of the Syrian Olympic Committee, Firas Mualla, explained during the meeting that the level of the team in friendly matches was bad and it was not expected for everyone, including the sports street, which hopes that his team will be in a better condition to achieve his ambition to reach the World Cup Finals, pointing out that what is required is to win all the round qualifying matches. The first three remaining against Guam, the Philippines and China to go towards qualifying for the World Cup, in addition to speeding up communication with professional Syrian players abroad.
Mualla called on the Football Association to accelerate the formation of teams of age groups, especially the Olympic and youth teams, in preparation for the Olympic qualifiers and the Asian Youth Games, pointing to the need to support Tishreen and Al-Wahda clubs in their Asian entitlements represented by the AFC Cup.
The President of the Football Association, Brigadier General Hatem Al-Ghayeb, reviewed the reality of the training camps that preceded the meetings of Bahrain and Iran and the meetings that were held with his counterparts there and the extent of cooperation that will appear in the future in the interest of Syrian football, pointing out that confidence in the Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul and his assistant staff has been renewed.
For his part, the national team manager, Abdelkader Kardagli, pointed out that coach Nabil Maaloul has a long-term plan of action since he signed with him, the goal of which is to qualify for the World Cup. Teams are weak, friendly in the framework of preparations, indicating that the national team will appear soon.
The interventions focused on the need to build a real participatory relationship between the Football Association and the sports media and the need for the coach to be in Syria to closely follow the affairs of the players and the audience's situation with all the details of the team because everyone has one goal, which is to reach the Asian Finals and the World Cup Finals.
The International Federation and the Asian Football Confederation decided to postpone the joint Asian qualifiers to next June due to the Corona pandemic, noting that our team has fifteen points in the qualifiers, which they won from five victories over the Philippines 5-2, the Maldives 2-1, Guam 4-0 and China 2 -1 and the Philippines a second time 1-2.
