Racist insults: Mouctar Diakhaby calls for "sanctions", Juan Cala says he is innocent

2021-04-06T12:55:46.891Z

Victim of racist insults in the middle of a La Liga match on Sunday, the French defender of Valencia spoke for the first time on Tuesday

He had not yet spoken.

He had preferred to take the time to reflect.

This Tuesday, Mouctar Diakhaby finally spoke to deliver his truth.

“I want to talk about what happened in Cadiz.

After two days, I'm calmer and I want to talk, ”said the French defender of Valence in a video posted on social networks.

In the 29th minute of the match played on Sunday, Diakhaby had stopped playing before accusing Juan Cala, his opponent, of having insulted him.

Standing, facing the camera with the tunic of his club, the young 24-year-old defender confirms that he has indeed been called "Negro de Mierda" by the Cadiz player.

“There was an action where a player insults me, continues the player trained in Lyon.

His words are "

black as hell

".

He told me.

It's intolerable.

I cannot condone this.

You have seen my reactions, that cannot exist in normal life and even less in football which is a sport of respect.

Diakhaby says he does not regret having caused the stoppage of the match and asked his partners to return to the locker room.

“It was a good decision.

We said no, that's not how it works.

The Frenchman now hopes that sanctions will be taken.

“Today I feel good but it hurt me a lot.

These are things of life but I hope La Liga will take sanctions.

I hope they will have proof so that we can see everything.

"

The affair had caused a huge scandal on the other side of the Pyrenees.

Many personalities had spoken to support him.

Following these allegations, Zinedine Zidane was also expressed by assuring that it was necessary to have "zero tolerance" in the face of racism.

"Either he invented, or he was wrong"

But if Diakhaby was able to count on his club - "I want to thank my club, the teammates and the coaches of Valencia" - he is not sure to receive the same support from La Liga.

According to information revealed Monday evening by Cope radio, no image and no audio recording could confirm and accredit the thesis of possible insults from Cala.

The latter also spoke on Tuesday at a press conference organized by his club.

"I am accused of something that I am not".

The first scorer in the victory of Cadiz (2-1), himself assured his defense.

"Never, never I never said

shit nigga

."

I told him twice in the field:

calm down, listen to me, I never said that

.

If we want to put in place a protocol against racism, I obviously support it!

But there has to be proof.

Deeming himself a victim in this case, Cala also announced that he will "take legal action against all those who have damaged my image since Sunday.

"We collect everything," continues the Spaniard.

I have received over 500 messages from former teammates, coaches, etc.

These are difficult times for my family because I suffered a real public lynching (...) I played in 4 championships, against South Americans, Africans, it's a shock.

I have never had this kind of problem.

There are two options: either Diakhaby invented it or he was wrong.

The rest is a circus… ”The affair is far from over.
