The Starbulls Rosenheim lost the second game of the semi-final series in the playoffs of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd on Easter Monday in their home ROFA stadium against the Selber Wölfe with 2: 5.

The press release in full:

Rosenheim -

After the Rosenheim away win on Holy Saturday, the "best-of-five" series is now 1: 1.

The third game will take place on Wednesday in Selb.

The starbulls, who had been weakened to replace them, were in the meantime 2: 1 in the lead in an intense game, but then had to pay tribute to the powerful and fast style of play of guests who were strong in combat and extremely compact on the defensive.

Timo Bakos and Michael Gottwald were still missing from the Starbulls.

In addition, the home side also had to do without striker Sebastian Stanik, who had received a momentous check in Selb, and defender Maximilian Vollmayer, who was recently so in shape and dangerous for goals, who had an earlier injury.

Accordingly handicapped, the home side saw themselves exposed to the extremely aggressive Selber Wolves going into the game, but still had an early chance to take the lead thanks to Kevin Slezak (3rd).

The guests shot often, but they got the opening goal completely unnecessarily from the Starbulls.

After Dennis Schütt recklessly lost the puck to Lukas Miculka on his own baseline, Brad Snetsinger sank free-standing from a short distance to make it 0: 1 (5th).

Starbulls fight their way into the game

The Starbulls bit into the game and fought at eye level with their opponents.

In the power play, Curtis Leinweber shoveled the disc to the lower edge of the crossbar from where it jumped onto the goal line and was not brought under control by goalkeeper Michel Weidekamp.

Michael Baindl pushed it into the guest goal, but the goal was not recognized because the game was interrupted by a whistle (12th).

The deserved equalizer was finally achieved by Kyle Gibbons, who had no trouble using a good assist from Curtis Leinweber after goalkeeper Weidekamp had slipped - 1: 1 (16 th).

Snetsinger almost brought the guests back into the lead again, but Rosenheim's sovereign goalkeeper Andreas Mechel had a successful brilliant save in their repertoire (17th).

Snapshot: All the trump cards in Rosenheim

At the beginning of the second period all of the trumps suddenly seemed to be in Rosenheim's hands.

Enrico Henriquez-Morales put Simon Heidenreich in the limelight in a clumsy change of his own, who put it down and Beppo Frank nailed the pane with a slap shot halfway into the right corner to make it 2-1 (23rd).

But the Starbulls let the reins of action be taken out of their hands again.

More and more duels, especially with the gang, decided the high Franconians for themselves, more and more often they seemed to be a tick faster on their feet and with the bat.

And that was ultimately reflected on the display board.

Ex-Rosenheimer Felix Linden met with a placed wrist shot from the blue line, in which goalkeeper Mechel's view was blocked, to equalize 2-2 (30th).

Then Carl Zimmermann showed a great overview in a counter-attack and put in the following Jan Hammerbauer, who finished ice cold to 2: 3 (33.).

Selb kept the pace high and the Starbulls barely kept up for a few minutes.

Several goalkeeper Andreas Mechel and in two situations also a Rosenheim defender's leg prevented the fourth guest goal.

In the middle of the urge phase of the Selber Wölfe, Gibbons just missed the guest housing after a fine one-two with Leinweber (38th) and with a concealed shot by Dominik Daxlberger, goalkeeper Weidekamp prevented the 3: 3 by reflex with the schooner.

(39.).

Self convinced

In the last third, the home side was basically more active again.

Daxlberger just missed the goal from the crowd (45th) and in a superiority game Tobias Draxinger failed after a solo from the best position against goalkeeper Weidekamp (48th).

But the extremely biting guests from Upper Franconia also had their chances, impressed with uncompromising defensive work and a strong underplayed game.

Almost eight minutes before the final siren, it was Nick Miglio, who made the preliminary decision with a strong individual action and from the left-hand position unsustainably hit the top right corner of the Rosenheim goal to make it 2: 4 (53rd).

Against the compact guests, the home side couldn't find a way to turn the game around in the final minutes.

Michael Baindl had the greatest chance for a possible subsequent goal, who first caught the puck in the air and then pulled it off immediately, but guest keeper Weidekamp parried strongly (57th).

Feodor Boiarchinov made it into the empty Rosenheim goal to make the final score 2: 5 (58th) after keeper Mechel had made room for an additional field player.

"That was just not enough from us from the first to the last minute"

Starbulls head coach John Sicinski spoke clearly after the game: “From the first to the last minute that was simply too little for us to win a game in this series.

We were always one step too slow, lost way too many duels and shot too few.

We now have a best-of-three series and I expect the team to show their true colors in the next game!

The semi-final series continues on Wednesday with the third game in Selb, before game four follows on Friday in Rosenheim.

The game starts at 7.30 p.m.

If necessary, the decisive fifth game would take place on Sunday from 5 p.m. in Selb.
