The board of directors of the leagues approved today (Wednesday) at its meeting today the opening dates of the 2021/22 season in the Premier League, which will start on August 28, the National League will start two days before that, on August 26.

The Champions League match, between the champion and the trophy holder, will take place on July 24 when the champion will host the match.

A week later, the Toto Cup home stage of the Premier League will begin (July 31).

The board of directors of the leagues also approved tonight the use of the addition of a differentiated 3D line application to the video refereeing systems (VAR) starting next season.

The system uses revolutionary image processing technology to upload a distinctly different line connected to the pitch, without the required sensors in the cameras.

The determination of the dividing line is done automatically within a few seconds.

The system also ensures a high level of reliability even in extreme weather conditions such as snow, fog and smoke, as well as in very small stadiums (the height of the cameras should be at least 4 meters above the ground).

The chairman of the board, Erez Kalfon, addressed the issue of referees and aids in the yeshiva and said: “We took it upon ourselves to be one of the first leagues in the world to introduce VAR and we all saw the importance of system interference in games still played in international settings without such a system. Just last week, as part of an international match in the World Cup qualifiers, a ball that crossed the goal line in full of the Portugal national team, was not approved as a goal.

In our decision today to improve the VAR product, we not only enable faster and better decision-making ability of the referees, we also prove that we are a league that is at the forefront of global technology.

"At the same time, errors of judgment have been and will continue to be and there is no excuse or reason for attacking referees. I strongly condemn violence against referees, certainly one perpetrated by officials and I expect you as the owner to convey the message to all officials in the clubs.

We demand and expect the courts to impose heavy penalties against officials and at the same time we will act for punishment also within the framework of the principal. "
