Four athletes from TSV Penzberg are at the “31.

Itelligence City Run Dresden ”started.

Three of them set a personal best over the 10 kilometers.

However, the fastest TSV runner was not satisfied.

Dresden - He was clearly the fastest of the Penzberg TSV athletes, and yet - as far as his high standards were concerned - too slow.

His goal, the 10 kilometers at the “31.

Itelligence Citylauf Dresden ”to run in just over 30 minutes, Nick Jäger had missed.

With 30:57 minutes, the 21-year-old biology student was 15 seconds above his personal best.

Jäger had had heavy legs that day.

On the other hand, his three colleagues from TSV Penzberg were completely satisfied: Luk Jäger (32:00 minutes), Tom Jäger (32:11) and Lucas Herbeck (32:47) each achieved personal bests.

Top runners from home and abroad in Dresden

Numerous top runners from Germany and abroad had come to the elite race.

In the “Großer Garten” park, a flat 2.5-kilometer circuit was set out on which various distances were run.

Nick Jäger came with great expectations - he wanted to clearly undercut his previous top time of 30:42 minutes.

At first the plan seemed to work: "As planned, I ran the first kilometers in 15:06 minutes, together with my training mate Florian Bremm," reported the student.

But shortly afterwards he had to let Bremm go away.

Although his third lap was 20 seconds slower than the second, Jäger did not recover and lost even more ground on his training colleagues in the fourth lap.

Bremm (TV Leutershausen) crossed the finish line after 30:34 minutes (30th place).

Nick Jäger landed in 40th place in the top-class starting field.

The youngest of the Jäger brothers stayed more than four minutes below his old best time.

The 18-year-old Luk Jäger increased his two-year-old best time to 32:00 minutes (77th place).

“I always ran the first 7.5 kilometers with Tom,” said the college student.

At the beginning of the fourth round, his brother Tom Jäger, who was five years older than him, noticed that he was no longer doing so well: “I felt a little sick, but my legs were still fine.

Nevertheless, I had to let Luk pull away on the long straight in the park. "

The first laps both ran equally: 8:04, 8:03, 8:01 minutes.

That was much faster than both had planned in advance.

“We actually wanted to start the first five kilometers in 16:15 minutes,” said Tom Jäger.

Despite the high speed, Luk Jäger was able to push again on the last lap and, with 7:53 minutes, set the fastest final lap of all four Penzbergers that day.

As he crossed the finish line, he clenched his right hand into a fist and the strain on his face gave way to relief.

Because after the long time without competition, of course, nobody knew exactly how good the form really is.

"I'm super happy with my time," said Tom Jäger about his 32:11 minutes (81st place).

Trainer Melanie Jäger, the mother of the brothers trio, was also very satisfied: "Now we know that the form is right and that the training of the past few months has paid off."

Lucas Herbeck breaks the three-year-old record

Lucas Herbeck was also in a good mood after the race.

With 32:47 minutes (107th place), the 23-year-old student had improved his three-year-old record by a whopping 50 seconds.

The preparation in the past four weeks had been anything but optimal: “I had problems with my foot so that I had hardly been able to train for four weeks.

It wasn't until the Tuesday before the competition that I was able to train intervals for the first time, ”said Herbeck.

Nevertheless, he started very aggressively, he only needed 16:17 minutes for the first five kilometers.

In the third lap he then lost a lot of time.

"I had to run this lap in the wind all by myself and got a stitch." In the fourth lap he overcame the low and accelerated again.

The overall victory in Dresden went to the Dutchman Richard Douma (28:55), who just prevailed over the Somali Ilyas Osman who lives in Germany (28:56).

The 21-year-old Osman hopes to receive his German passport soon and to be able to start for the German Athletics Association.

He fled Somalia to Germany at the age of 14.

The fastest woman was Katharina Steinruck (31:59) from Leipzig.

Simon Boch (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg) provided a highlight on the marathon route: he almost single-handedly undercut the Olympic standard for Tokyo and shone on his debut over the 42.195 kilometers with 2:10:48 hours.

The fastest woman was Anna Bankowska (2:31:16) from Poland.

In the half marathon, winner Fabienne Schlumpf set a national record for Switzerland with 1:08:27 hours. Schlumpf won the silver medal at the European Athletics Championships 2018 in Berlin over the 3000 meter obstacle behind Gesa Felicitas Krause (Frankfurt). Behind the Swiss, Domenika Mayer (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg) surprised with a strong time of 1:09:52 hours. In the men's race, favorite Richard Ringer (1:01:33) from LC Rehlingen prevailed ahead of the surprise runner-up Nils Voigt (1:01:35) from TV Wattenscheid. Voigt even reached the finish before the German marathon record holder Amanal Petros (1: 01: 37 / TV Wattenscheid).
