Orit Maman-Rada is used to watching from the side of the spotlight.

She grew up as the daughter of Maccabi Haifa star Baruch Maman ("I was born into football, I would hear songs and goals and sit in the stands"), and this week made headlines following a post published by her brother, Hapoel Haifa star Hanan Maman.

Maman enlisted the help of the public in fundraising for his older sister, who is suffering from cancer for the third time and needs help funding a unique drug that is helping her.

A storm has since erupted, and the campaign has garnered much attention.

Orit was a guest on the "Double Team" podcast and spoke openly about the illness and coping, the difficulty of asking for help and also about life within the football game.

"My brother and I are very connected, and I trust him so much. The post came from his heart," Maman-Rada said.

"We are not a family that asks, and we always try to be the ones who give. When we went out on a campaign, we hoped people would be drawn to this energy of giving.

" We asked for help only after trying the drug, and I saw that it just helps me and lifts me.

I have experienced failures with all other medications.

We are not endangering in any way.

I do not feel sorry for myself that I have cancer.

I am doing the best I can under the circumstances. "

So far, about 600,000 shekels have been raised as part of the mass mobilization, but Orit and her family need 1.1 million shekels so that they can finance the purchase of the drug by the next time the Ministry of Health decides to include it in the drug basket .
