The Syrian Association for Purebred Arabian Horses has opened its annual activities agenda with the first periodic speed race, with the wide participation of Arabian horse breeders in most of the governorates, on the land of Dimas Racecourse in Damascus countryside.

The race was held in seven runs, four of which were held for pure Syrian horses, which are the second and third, for a distance of 1450 meters for each of them, while the competitions of the fifth and seventh stages took place for a distance of 1600 meters, while Arab horses registered in the first and fourth stages competed for a distance of 1450 meters, the sixth for a distance of 1600 meters, taking into account the horses' ages and degrees. In every half.

The results of the aforementioned weightlifting championship resulted in the victory of the horse Al-Amal returning to Ibrahim and Imad Khamis in the first half, and Al-Jawad Cub Al-Kohl by Suleiman Al-Tawil in the second half. And Mansour Al-Mahaini for Moaz Al-Mahaini in the sixth and seventh halves.

The association’s director, Eng. Mohamed Al-Wadi, said in a statement to the representative of SANA Al-Riyadi, “The race had wide participation by more than 60 purebred Arab horses who competed at various distances and all rounds witnessed strong competitions and close levels,” indicating at the same time that preparations are underway to revive the speed races on the Latakia track. The Director of the Arab Horses Office at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Dr.Ahmed Al-Aboud pointed out the importance of holding races periodically because they stimulate breeders to prepare their horses well and contribute to preserving their breeding by continuing to produce more Arab breeds known to participate in these competitions.

A number of Arabian horse breeders and speed horse riding enthusiasts pointed out to the strong start of the speed competitions this year from the gate of the first race and the good preparation for it and the good level shown by the horses in the various runs, which motivated them to raise the level of challenge in the upcoming races to show the strength of the Arabian horses, which are among the most important breeds of horses.
