The starting position seemed perfect for VfL Bochum, after all, pursuers Hamburger SV failed on Friday evening.

But the leaders of the second division suffered an unexpectedly significant defeat - 0: 3 (0: 2) defeated VfL in Paderborn.

Julian Justvan took the lead (36th minute), Sven Michel increased before the break (39th), the decision brought Christopher Antwi-Adjei (73rd).

And that wasn't a coincidence.

Paderborn played energetically and structured, but also had chances again and again, like Justvan, who failed with a long-range shot at the right goal post (17th).

Bochum's Thomas Eisfeld almost managed an artificial shot: After a cross, he tried a side pull from 17 meters, which just missed the left post.

The last quarter of an hour in the first half belonged to the SCP, who punished a VfL defense that seemed overwhelmed twice: Justvan (36th) and Michel (39th) overcame Manuel Riemann.

After the break, Paderborn stood low and waited for counterattacks.

The favorite did not manage to get close again.

Steffen Baumgart's team, who recently announced his departure as coach after the end of the season, increased with Antwi-Adjei (73rd), who completed a counterattack.

Bochum still has four points ahead of third-placed Holstein Kiel, whose match on this matchday was canceled because the team had to be in corona quarantine again.

The team of the hour in the second division is not called VfL Bochum, but FC St. Pauli.

After the clear 3-1 (1-0) success in Aue, the club has collected 25 points from the last ten games and moved up from a relegation rank to eighth place.

A header from Alexander Mühling ensured the perfect start after just 60 seconds.

The guests kept control, but the Auer were close to the opponent.

If Aue got through, St. Pauli's goalkeeper Dejan Stojanović was there.

After the restart, things went quickly again: it took only three minutes for Rodrigo Zalazar to increase for the guests after striker Guido Burgstaller dropped (49th).

The playful presence of FC St. Pauli was enormous, the decision was made by Zander (56th), whose goal looked like a copy from the first minute: Paqarada brought the ball into the penalty area from the left, Testroet unluckily extended the ball to the second Post.

And there was pikeperch lurking again, slipping in.

Pascal Testroet scored the next goal for the home team.

The striker controlled a cross worth seeing and pushed past Stojanovic into the goal (73).
