He is one of the most popular youth educators in the Paris region.

Thomas Berlette, 36, was on the market after the end of his adventure with the national U17s of Montrouge, which he took to the semi-final of the French Championship in 2019. He is the only coach of an amateur club to have achieved this performance.

In Montrouge, he notably participated in the outbreak of Check Oumar Diakité, revelation this season in L2 with Paris FC, Bradley Locko (pro in Reims), Samy Mahour (pro in Genk, Belgium) or Mehdi Chafi (Lille), international U17.

Since the announcement of his departure in March, he has received many requests, from Ile-de-France clubs and professional clubs.

He even discussed with Nicolas Anelka new sports director of the club of Hyères (Var) taken over by Mourad Boudjellal.

"Anelka had come to see us several times playing in Montrouge and we had a good discussion about our vision of football," explains Thomas Berlette.

There, he called me to present his project to me in Hyères.

It was interesting but it was also complicated for me to leave the Paris region.

Football is not my job, it does not give me a living.

Thomas Berlette is indeed a specialist educator in a therapeutic educational and pedagogical institute (ITEP), the Coteau in Vitry-sur-Seine.

Himed Hamma as a model

This weekend, he decided to opt for the proposal of FC 93 Bobigny where he will lead the U18 (R1) team.

A choice that surprised many.

“More than the level, it was the project that interested me and especially the people with whom I was going to work,” he explains.

In the amateur world in the Paris region, Himed Hamma (coach of the team in N2) is a bit of a model for many youth coaches and I will learn a lot from someone like him.

I want to continue to progress, to pass my diplomas.

Bobigny is a popular, young town that reminds me of Vitry where I live.

In my career, I have only known three clubs, I spent 9 years in Vitry, 9 years in Choisy and 6 years in Montrouge where it suddenly stopped at the beginning of March.

But we had come to the end of a cycle, I also needed to question myself.

At Bobigny, I only signed for a year, but if I come, it's to build something over time.

"

By recruiting Thomas Berlette, FC 93 Bobigny also shows that it wants to take a step forward in the training of young people and become a club that counts in 93 and Ile-de-France.

"The president gave me a roadmap and I put it into practice," explains Siné Danioko, the club's technical director.

Surrounding ourselves with the best trainers so that our young people can evolve in the best conditions and progress, that is the goal of the project.

Two years ago, we bet on Himed Hamma, a recognized trainer in the Paris region.

With the arrival of Thomas, it is a logical continuation and an additional step.

The educators who join us come for the project.

Beyond attracting very good educators, we also train internally and advance the educators of tomorrow.
