Liverpool FC has achieved something that it has not been able to do for a long time: it won a home game in the Premier League.

The team of coach Jürgen Klopp won 2-1 (0-1) against Aston Villa and ensured the end of the negative run in the league.

The Reds last won there on December 16 at home (2-1 against Tottenham).

Then there were two draws and recently six defeats in a row.

Only in the Champions League had Liverpool won a home game, but that was played in Budapest (2-0 against Leipzig in March).

Mohamed Salah (75th minute) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (90th + 1) ensured the victory after the guests from Birmingham had previously led through Ollie Watkins (43rd).

Liverpool in particular had good chances to score in addition to the hits, Salah forgave about free standing in front of the Villa goal (13th), in the end the goal scoring ratio was 23: 9.

But the guests weren't harmless either;

Trezeguet failed at the post after about 62 minutes.

Liverpool lost the first leg sensationally 2: 7 last September.

Due to the success in the second leg, the champions improved at least temporarily to fourth place in the table, which entitles them to participate in the premier class.

Three teams (West Ham, Chelsea and Tottenham) can push the Reds from fourth place.

In every stadium on this football weekend in England, two minutes of silence were observed for the British Prince Philip before kick-off.

Queen Elizabeth II's husband died on Friday at the age of 99.
