The German national team won the test match against Australia, which was influenced by corona cases, 5: 2 (1: 0).

The German goals in Wiesbaden were scored by Sjoeke Nüsken (11th minute of the game), Kathrin Hendrich (48th), Jule Brand (62nd), Laura Freilang (64th) and Linda Dallmann (90th + 1st).

Emily Gielnik scored for Australia (82nd, 90th + 2nd).

For the DFB-Elf it was the 13th victory in the past 14 international matches.

Only the previous game against the Netherlands had the team of coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg lost 1: 2 (1: 1).

While the German team had to do without the defender after a positive corona test by Felicitas Rauch, but also their Wolfsburg teammates Sara Doorsoun and Svenja Huth, it was the first game in more than one for the Australian national team due to the corona pandemic Year as well as the debut under head coach Tony Gustavsson.

The lack of coordination was noted in the "Matildas".

For long stretches of the game, Germany controlled what was happening on the pitch.

And that, although in addition to the four players who were canceled at short notice, including captain Alexandra Popp, Dzsenifer Marozsán, Lena Oberdorf and Giulia Gwinn, no other candidates for the first team were available.

After muddled opening minutes, the German team, led by defender Marina Hegering and Sara Däbritz, who initiated almost every attack, had the game under control.

Australia initially without a chance to score

The lead fell in the eleventh minute.

Tabea Waßmuth picked up speed in her fifth international match on the right side and passed the ball towards the penalty spot, where Aivi Liuk defended the ball inadequately.

Sjoke Nüsken took advantage of the mistake and hit from almost 13 meters with a low shot.

It was her first international goal in her second appearance for Germany.

As a result, Germany missed several good chances to gain a two-goal lead, despite some good chances.

Hegering (24th) headed, the conspicuous Paulina Krumbiegel in the third international match (35th) and Lea Schüller (45th) had the best opportunities before the break.

The guests did not get any significant chance of scoring.

After the break, it took less than three minutes for the DFB-Elf to step up.

After a cross from Däbritz, Hendrich was completely free at the far post and only needed to push in (48th).

Australian goalkeeper Lydia Williams initially prevented Lina Magull from 3-0 from short distance with a strong reaction, and Schüller's attempt was also blocked seconds later (56th).

A short time later, however, Williams was powerless.

Brand, who came on as a substitute less than two minutes before, scored a goal on her national team debut (62nd).

Two minutes later, Brand prepared the fourth goal with a nice pass into the run of Freilang, but from a suspicious position (64th).

The hosts continued to play with a clear lead, both Dahlmann (78th) and Brand (81st) still hit the bar.

The fifth goal was then achieved by Australia.

Nüsken lost the ball unnecessarily deep in his own half, so that Glienik ran up to goalkeeper Merle Frohms and pushed in (82.) In stoppage time, two more goals were scored: First, Dallmann hit the corner from 13 meters (90. + 1. ), then Glienik was allowed to head uncovered in direct return (90th + 2nd)
