Donta Wright, a 20-year-old black man, was killed last night (Sunday) after a police officer shot him in police custody.

Although the local police said in an official statement that the shooting was by mistake, and that the policeman tried to fire an idle pistol and not a real pistol, this did not prevent the outbreak of huge riots in protest.

Tonight, about 24 hours after the event, which joins a string of difficult events against the U.S. black community over the past year, including the death of George Floyd in May 2020, the three teams from Minnesota - Minnesota Twins (baseball), Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) and Minnesota Wild (Hockey), decided to postpone their games as part of a wave of protests and criticism.

"Out of respect for the tragic events that took place at the Brooklyn Center, and following other events that unfolded, we decided that for the benefit of the fans, coaches and players it would be the right thing to postpone the game," said the Twins, who were to host the Boston Red Sox.

The #MNTwins issued the following statement regarding the decision to postpone today's scheduled game against the Red Sox.
