In the 2nd Bundesliga, the games scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday by Holstein Kiel against Hannover 96 and at 1. FC Nürnberg have been canceled due to the forced Corona break for Kiel.
The German Football League announced on Monday evening.
"Since the club's licensing team had to go into quarantine at home as a result of a corresponding order from the responsible health department due to Covid-19 cases," the encounters could not be held as planned, the message said.
Already at the weekend the Kiel game against Jahn Regensburg could not be kicked off.
The Kielers are eight points behind leaders VfL Bochum, but two games behind fourth place in the table.
The club faces enormous problems within six weeks due to the second 14-day mandatory Corona break.
It is "probably a unique situation that a professional team was taken out of training within a month and a half for four weeks, while the competition was able to use these six weeks completely," said coach Ole Werner.
Some of his players are in isolation for the third time this season.
"We will need every support"
Werner spoke of great effects, "in terms of the rhythm of the game, in terms of coordination among each other, also in terms of mental factors, because it is extremely difficult to sit in your own apartment within a month and a half for four weeks, sometimes alone."
The coach also fears "physical consequences, because the state of training after such a break can of course not be what you normally have when playing second division games."
Werner appeals: "We will need every support from one another and also from outside in order to be able to lead the season to the end." The 32-year-old coach hopes that his team will be spared serious injuries.
He no longer wants to talk about "big dreams".
The Kielers were meanwhile on a promotion place, but fell back after the first team quarantine due to two defeats.
A similar scenario looms again.
Only the players who were injured or who were not in the squad in the game in Heidenheim (0: 1) last Tuesday were able to train on Monday.
There is a training plan for the professionals in quarantine who receive ergometers.
On a few days, they will train together via video.
The quarantine ends on April 20th.
The next day the game against Sandhausen is scheduled.
