Tennis balls, toilet paper on the pitch, thrown onto the field by the fans in protest - these will be remembered by the Monday Bundesliga games.

They were really not popular, the DFL has now ended this experiment after years.

With the 0-0 of 1899 Hoffenheim against Bayer Leverkusen, the Monday games came to an appropriate conclusion.

Hoffenheim's coach Sebastian Hoeneß started without scorer Andrej Kramaric.

The Croatian came into the game relatively early because Sebastian Rudy was injured and had to be replaced after 38 minutes - not a good anniversary for Rudy, who played his 250th game for Hoffenheim.

The substitution was one of the highlights of the first half.

Bayer coach Patrik Schick and Nadiem Amiri sent on the field for Lucas Alario and Florian Wirtz, but that didn't change the overall impression.

Amiri once stood free in the penalty area and his shot was a better return.

The draw is of little help to either team.

Hoffenheim could only insufficiently increase the distance to the relegation region, for Bayer the Champions League is moving into almost unattainable spheres, and the Wolf-Elf must also continue to fear for the Europa League place.
