The President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, stressed the importance of our team winning basketball over the teams of Saudi Arabia and Qatar within the third window of the qualifiers for the Asian finals scheduled for next June in the Jordanian capital Amman, which will be the gateway to the next finals.
During a meeting held today at the headquarters of the General Sports Federation in Damascus with the temporary Basketball Association, Mualla expressed his confidence in our team to provide an impressive performance and achieve two victories in the next window, indicating the need for good preparation, as the task is not easy, and the federation will provide all support to our team during the preparations period to appear as required and achieve its desired goal.
The interim president of the Basketball Association, Alaa Gokh-ji, indicated that the preparations will start after the blessed month of Ramadan through an internal training camp, provided that they will be strengthened by an external camp that includes friendly meetings with strong teams in the game to raise the skill level of the players.
Member of the Basketball Association, Tarif Qoutrash, explained that the national team will do everything it can to win the next two matches, and we will prepare the players according to a specific plan to achieve the desired goal, indicating that the postponement of the third window from last March to next June had a negative impact on the team because our players had prepared for it according to a short-term plan.
The AFC decided to hold the third window of the qualifying rounds for the Asian finals postponed from last March next June, during which our teams will meet Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the Jordanian capital Amman on the twelfth and fourteenth of the same month.
Our team had beaten Iran by 77-70 points in the second window, despite its loss to Qatar in the same window, and also beat its Saudi counterpart with a score of 75-70 points within the first window in which he opened his career by losing to Iran, with a score of 48-94.
